The Maryland Science Center has orchestrated a great kick off to summer with an up-tempo mix of music, dance, food and fun at its annual fundraising gala, Solstice, on Saturday, June 19, 2010. This year’s theme is “Science Swings” as the Maryland Science Center welcomes the acclaimed 18-piece big band, Beantown Swing Orchestra, featuring American Idol finalist John Stevens.

Arrangements also include a moveable feast and signature cocktails on the waterfront, and jitterbugs can Lindy Hop their way through the museum’s exhibition halls which will be open during the celebration.

Fells Point Bar Owner Agrees to “Shave it Off” for Charity: A neighborhood supporting a cause

Michael “Reds” Cassidy, co-owner of Todd Conner’s in Fells Point, has agreed to shave his head (and mustache?!) in support of a loyal patron/friend’s effort to fundraise on behalf of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in their Man and Woman of the year campaign.

Join us at the 2010 Western Maryland Kidney Walk/Run on May 16 at Rose Hill Manor Park in Frederick, MD. Registration starts at Noon. The Walk/Run starts at 1 pm. We'll have music, refreshments, a clown and facepainting for the kids, and Keyote (mascot for the Frederick Keys) will be on hand to greet everyone. The Walk is a 5K or approximately 3 miles but you can walk as a shorter distance if you wish. We'll also have a course for those who are in wheelchairs.

Formerly The Barn Golf Classic, our 2010 event comes to you with a new name, new sponsors and new cause. All proceeds from this event will be donated to the Boys and Girls Club of America. With support from PGA golfer Kenny Perry, we promise to make this year’s tournament the best yet. Mr. Perry will be playing in THE PLAYERS Championship PGA event in Ponte Verde Beach, Florida the day of our tournament and will not be able to attend. He will be donating several items for this event

The Baltimore Child Abuse Center is hosting their second annual community block party to kick off Child Abuse Awareness Month. Join us on Saturday, April 10th from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. in front of our center on 23rd street for a day filled with family fun and community fellowship. Enjoy live entertainment, local artists, children's activities and meet our area non-profit partners.
