Fells Point Bar Owner Agrees to “Shave it Off” for Charity: A neighborhood supporting a cause

Michael “Reds” Cassidy, co-owner of Todd Conner’s in Fells Point, has agreed to shave his head (and mustache?!) in support of a loyal patron/friend’s effort to fundraise on behalf of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in their Man and Woman of the year campaign.

Baltimore, MD, April 8, 2010: Todd Conner’s, One-Eyed Mikes, JA Murphy’, Green Turtle, Blarney Stone, Alexander’s Tavern and Shucker’s are all accepting donations now through April 16 to support LLS AND to see one of their own, Reds (co-owner of TC’s), shave it all off!

Todd Conner’s co owner, Nikki Popovich, shaved her head 4 years ago while campaigning for Woman of the Year for LLS. This year she nominated Tom McNamara, a regular and friend of TC’s, to rise to the challenge to fundraise for the Man of the Year campaign. He accepted. To show his support of the fund raising efforts of Tom and the mission of LLS, Reds agreed to shave his head in a Shave Off Event to be held at Todd Conner’s April 17, 2010. One stipulation, $10,000 must be raised for him do it.

A close knit community of bar owners, staff and patrons have pulled together to fundraise over the last few weeks in order to raise awareness and funds with the ultimate goal, of course, to see Reds shave it off! Events such as the Fells Point Bunny Hop Bar Tour, sales of raffle tickets for a 42” flat screen TV, happy hour parties and more have all contributed toward the fundraising initiative.

With the help and participation of area friends and residents there will be a day long bar tour, fundraising and fun with a head shave occurring during it all! Registration for the bar tour is available online at www.toddconners.com (until April 14.) Event check in and day of registration will be at Todd Conner’s, 700 S. Broadway beginning at 1pm. Day of registration is first come first served. Registration ranges between $20 and $30 and includes an event tee, while supplies last, and specials at all participating bar tour stops. Participants who shave their head on site the day of the event get free registration. 100% of all registration fee is going to LLS! All the neighborhood sponsor bars will have specials available from 1pm-12am including, but not limited to, discounted Miller Lite and Miller High Life. Sponsor bars include: Todd Conner’s, Max’s, Greene Turtle, One-Eyed Mike’s, Alexander’s Tavern, J.A. Murphy’s, Shucker’s of Fells Point, Lil Phil’s, Blarney Stone and Canton Liquor House. It is our communal goal to increase awareness about blood cancers, raise funds to help find a cure and to see one of our own “show some skin.”
