Domaine Chandon,Yountville's Sparkling Wine estate by Moet et Chandon

Living in the City of Napa, I decided to venture 6 miles up RT 29, to Yountville, to enjoy bubbles at the French owned, Moet et Chandon California estate, Domaine Chandon. Since the 1980's, many fine, authentic Champagne houses, ie, those made in the region Champagne, France, have a location in Napa-Sonoma wine country. California's Mediterranean terroir has proven perfect for producing excellent bubbly, furthering their brands excellent tradition in the USA.

The sparkling wines of Domaine Chandon are made in the traditional method. As you know, only sparkling in Champagne region of France, can be called 'champagne'. But, don't discount a sparkling from California, many can be extrordinary. And, the bubbles at Domaine Chandon, are exceptional. From rose of pinot noir and pinot meunier to a double disgourged Vintage brut sparkling, Domaine Chandon delights the palate with a bready, creamy delicious mouthful.

I was also encouraged by the vivacious tasting room team, to try their still wines. I enjoyed their 100% cab sauvignon and still pinot noir and meunier rose, very much.

The grounds are stunning. You can sit outside in an adorondack chair, gaze at the nearby Mayacamas mountains, sip, swirl and savor.

Check out the ducks swimming in ‘duck moss’. At first, I thought they were decoys. And, the estate is dog friendly. A tasting room staffer gave my furry boy a treat.

Checking out House of Tattinger’s Domaine Carneros, another 14 miles North on 29, next. Stay tuned. Cheers
