PS 7's is conveniently located in Washington DC's Penn Quarter neighborhood and was recently named one of Washington Magazine's Top 100 Restaurants, and one of their Best Bars and Lounges.  The Washigton Post also ranked them a "Best Bet" for 2009.  The menu features Chef Peter's playful take on Contemporary American cuisine, showcased in the warm, sweeping design by GrizForm Design Architects.  Specializing in seasonal, locally grown ingredients, Chef Smith offers his guests a variety of dining options, including cocktail tasting menus, expertly paired wines, the sumptuous desserts of Pastry Chef Leon Baker and the amazing cocktails of legendary Mixtress Gina Chersevani.  Join everyone in the lounge for daily happy hour from 4-7 pm wine and beer specials and half price flatbreads.  Accomodations for private parties up to 165 people can be arranged for meetings, celebrations, and other events.

We arrived early for our reservations, so we sat at the bar. I asked the bartender which drinks she recommended and she very sarcastically replied "OH all our drinks are horrible, you should go across the street for a drink", her humor obviously did not come across and she then said "it was a joke, dude". From that point on, I was severely turned off by the place. The host didn't come get us for our reservation after we'd let him know that we'd be at the bar until the reserved time - so we waited at the front desk for 10 mins until he came back. After we were finally seated & ordered, the food was lackluster for the price and the drinks were horrible. I think the bartender was being honest when she said we should go across the street.
Not sure what was across the street, but WHATEVER it is, I will certainly be sure to go there next time.
