On Saturday, July 8, 2017, from 6 to 10 p.m., celebrate America's 241st birthday and Alexandria's 268th birthday along the Potomac waterfront at Oronoco Bay Park. Bring lawn chairs, blankets and a picnic and enjoy live music by the Alexandria Symphony Orchestra, patriotic birthday cake, food vendors and a dazzling fireworks display.

15th Annual Turkish Festival will offer a full day of free activities that range from lively folk dancing and musical performances to arts and crafts activities for children and adults.

Sound Scene X, organized by local sound collective DC Listening Lounge, unites audio artists and contributors from across the globe to transform the Hirshhorn into a sonic wonderland highlighting the unique sounds of D.C. This year’s event focuses on the theme of "dissonance." 

To celebrate its 50th anniversary, the 2017 Smithsonian Folklife Festival will explore the complexity of American identity and creativity. “Circus Arts” will take visitors behind the scenes to explore the cultural and artistic expressions of the ever-evolving circus, and “On the Move” will examine migration and cultural identity from the vantage point of America’s youth. 

Never before has there been an opportunity where African-American owned Spirit, Wine, and Beer brands have been unified in one place for a single common ground. The Black Owned Wine & Spirits Festival will lay a foundation of commerce and education that will inspire and propel a movement towards the widespread support of Black owned Spirits, Wine and Beer.
