Concourse Gallery, VisArts, 2ndFloor

Reception: Sunday, April 2, 4 PM- Artist Concourse and Buchanan Room (2ndfloor)

Each spring, the Congressional Institute sponsors an art competition to recognize and encourage artistic talent in high schools in each congressional district nationwide. Since the Artistic Discovery competition began in 1982, more than 650,000 high school students have participated.

High school students from the 8th District of Maryland, represented by Congressman Jamie Raskin, are eligible to submit entries for this juried exhibition. Selected entries will be exhibited at VisArts, 155 Gibbs Street, Rockville, MD 20850 from April 26 – May 12 with a reception on Sunday, April 2 at 4 PM.

Congressman Raskin will host this reception to underscore the importance of arts education in high schools, showcase the exhibition, honor all artists and announce awards. The grand prize winning entry from the district will hang in the House of Representatives' Cannon Tunnel for the duration of the Congressional Art Competition exhibit.
