Light City Baltimore 2017 is All-Local Festival Food and Beverage Program & FoodLabs

Launched by the Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts in 2016, Light City Baltimore, the first large-scale, international light festival in the United States is returning March 30-April 8, 2017. In its first year, Light City welcomed more than 400,000 people over seven nights. The free festival transforms Baltimore with large-scale light installations, performances, music and innovation. It is glowing by the BGE Light Art Walk along Baltimore’s Inner Harbor, with more than 50 attractions, including illuminated sculptures, projections, interactive technologies, performances, concerts, food vendors and a children’s area.

And, just announced is the lineup of food and beverage vendors for the second annual Light City which will showcase Baltimore’s creative culinary community with all local food and beverage vendors for 2017. A variety of innovative food and drink options are available along the BGE Light Art Walk, while restaurants at the Inner Harbor, Harbor East and surrounding areas also remain open for festival-goers. Food and beverage destinations will include:

All Light City Beverage Bars will feature libations from Heavy Seas BeerThe Brewer’s ArtUnion Craft Brewing, wine and the official Light City Cocktail, “The Golden Hour” created by Eric Fooy of B&O American Brasserie. The cocktail uses 1.5 oz. Sagamore Spirit Rye, .5 oz. maraschino liquor, 2 oz. orange and .5 oz. lemon juice with a dash of bitters and a cherry garnish. The official spirit of Light City is Sagamore Spirit Rye. Lemonade, iced tea, coffee and hot chocolate are available at adjacent food stalls.

Restaurants in the Inner Harbor and surrounding area also remain open for festival goers to explore and patronize. In addition, acclaimed culinary thinkers and chefs unite with local innovators in Baltimore’s food scene during FoodLab@LightCity, one of Light City’s six innovation conferences. Chefs Marcus Samuelsson, Jeff Henderson and Spike Gjerde are among the renowned chefs participating in FoodLab at the Columbus Center (701 E. Pratt Street) on Saturday, April 8, 2017 from 8:00am to 6:00pm. After FoodLab at 6pm, Labs@LightCity hosts a free “#MadeInBaltimore Food Innovators Happy Hour,” featuring 20-25 Baltimore food and beverage vendors who will provide food and drink samples to the audience.
