Primary tabs

Baltimore City, 'date-night and a movie' just got an upgrade. CinéBistro, located at the newly renovated 'The Rotunda,' 727, is Baltimore's first luxury dinner and a movie concept, officially open its doors to the public, Friday, February 24. It is the 11th CinéBistro theatre that joins Miami FL., Tampa, FL., Sarasota, FL, Atlanta, GA., Vail, CO., Richmond, VA., Hampton, VA, Raleigh, NC, and Cincinnati, OH. Doral, FL, opening in March 2017.

Sorry kids, this luxury movie-going experience is for ages 21 and over. Just as well, we tallied a price of $100 for two based on 2 drinks, 2 movie tickets, dinner and an apres cocktail and/or dessert. Tickets range in price from $13.50-$15.75, depending on day and time.

The fully integrated entertainment complex includes a lounge and bar area where guests can choose to dine in the restaurant and full bar. The bar serves hand crafted cocktails and an extensive wine list, local beers. The area is open to both theatre goers and non-theatre goers. There is a welcoming fireplace in the den-like area of the lobby. We tried the smoked bourbon cocktail made with Buffalo Trace bourbon ($11) and served with an oversized ice cube infused with liquid smoke.

“We aim to combine exceptional hospitality and a luxury ambiance with a cinema experience,” said Derik Farrar, General Manager of CinéBistro at The Rotunda. “Our guests visit CinéBistro to get away from the typical movie-going experience. Whether you’re looking for a date night, girl’s night out, or pure entertainment, we offer every component and tailor the experience in one luxurious package.”

The 33,000-square-foot premier cinema complex, hosts 7 movies theaters, with state of the art 4k digital cinema technology, wall-to-wall screens and 7.1 sound quality, along with designer cocktails and dinner service. The Rotunda's kitchen is managed by Executive Chef Mark Davis.

The experience is designed to make the guest feel like they are home, perhaps in a living room. That is, if you had a movie room that could seat 100 and your own private chef team serving upscale food like 12 ounce filet of Allen beef ($27, add crab meat additional-photo by Jessi Kim), crab cakes ($24.50) and ahi tuna sashimi taquitos ($12) in a massive 50,000 sf kitchen with state-of-the-art ovens, grills and more to serve food from scratch, at lightening speeds. The chef-driven menu is presented, ordered and delivered seat side by an experienced and smiling wait staff. Special orders are accepted, for example, CinéBistro offers Lobster rolls cold, traditional, ($18), but if you’d like them heated, it can be done. CineBistro offers traditional movie concessions, too: popcorn ($8, includes refills), candies ($4.50) and sodas ($4.50)

The process

Arrive at the theatre 30 minutes before show time to receive in-theatre service. Seating is individually chosen and reserved online or at the theatre by CinéBistro’s own “concierge” staff. The seven theatres each accommodates 70-100 guests for intimate movie viewing and dining. This is a full-service in theatre dining. When you get to your seat you’ll see a full American Bistro Cuisine menu and a linen/utensil set on the swivel table attached to the seat. CineBistro takes pride in quality; napkins are linens and utensils are quality silverware. The waiter comes to you with a tablet, linked to the kitchen, to takes your order and patiently explain the process. An automatic 18.5%  gratuity is added to every check for service provided in-theatre. This gratuity is shared amongst all in-theatre staff. You can alter the tip as you like.

Notes:

  • If you get there after the 30-minute timeframe, never fear, you can use the concession stand located outside the theater to orderfrom the full menu. Even can visit during show time where you will be given a beeper to let you know when your order is ready for pickup. Seat side service is not available once the movie commences.
  • When picking your seats online, note that they are numbered and lettered.  Now, wilt into your oversized, leather, reclininng chairs. Each two seats are coupled so you can raise the arm rest to cuddle, if you’re on a date.
  • CineBistro is a guest centered environment. This means, guests can choose to dine in or grab a drink at bar without seeing a movie. Also guests are never required to order dinner when seeing a movie. It’s all up to you.
