Peek at some healthy eats in Federal Hill

Primary tabs

I like to eat fairly healthy. So, I thought i would give you a peek of some of my favorite Summer dishes in Federal Hill

Metropolitan Coffeehouse & Wine Bar has a salad on the menu that is always a pleaser. Labeled, the 'Ladykiller Salad,' my pick is is described as fresh romaine lettuce salad topped with shrimp, julienned vegetables, olives, white cheddar, parmesan, hardboiled eggs and bacon, tossed in a sesame ginger vinaigrette and topped with jumbo lump crab. It is available in two sizes:- small $10 and large $17. (Seen in photo left)

I am also in love with a new salad that mixes avocados, tomatoes, totilla chips, onions, topped with 5 grilled shrimp and tossed in a pblano chile-cilantro dressing. To Die For!

Another salad I love it the classic chopped, at The Rowhouse Grill, a fresh combo of chicken, romaine, egg, bacon, topped with a choice of many proteins. Try their fish choices, terrific tuna and salmon.

Blue Agave has terrific made to order guacomole. I love it paired with a Don Julio Skinny blended (aka low sugar) Margarita.

Grilled Wings: Well this is a popular item for me. I give shout out to multiple venues starting with the well marinated staple at Little Havana: Nine jerk-spiced chicken wings roasted and then finished on the grill. With cilantro-lime sauce on the side.

Felici Cafe is a wing new-comer that is not to be missed. Currently, they offer very plump, spicy, jerk- spiced wings, served with a homemade blue cheese dressing and crudite for $5 for 10. Best price round. Kiddie size smoothies  and meals are also available for $3.99!

Regis Bistro offers naked and bar-b-que grilled wings for $8. Also try their new offering avocado toast.

FELICI Cafe has introduced me to a new Super-Food is sweeping the world--the ACAI BOWL.

ACAI is the deep purple, edible berry of a Central and South American palm tree, Euterpe and is known for its anti aging and weighloss benefits. It should come as no surprise that it has made its way into the health food world. And, mixed with yogurt and fresh fruit, it truly is a a sweet Summer dish. Felici Cafe offers the bowl of Greek yogurt, bananas, strawberries, blueberries, kiwis, topped with granola for $5.

ZATAAR offers authentic Middle Eastern cuisine. One of my go-to choices is an enchanting mixed vegetable grilled served with hommos and its house Ali Baba bread--pita grilled with oils, seasoning and onions. Their baba gnoush is delicious.

Also in the same region is BYBLOS. Everything is made to order by the Lebanese-born, husband wife team, Sami and Hala Tabet. Pretty much everything is fabulous. My choice recently was salmon topped with walnuts and herbs. Both of the above spots are BYOB.
