From Baltimore-Boca OUZO BAY to open in Mizner Park

Primary tabs

If you have been to Mizner Park, you know it is similar to the monied streets like Palm Beach's Worth Avenue, Chicago's Magnificent Mile or LA's Rodeo Drive. Now Boca is going to take a bite out of Baltimore with the addition of OUZO BAY Greek Kouzina. Floridians in for a treat!

Alexander Smith and George Aligeorgas of the Atlas Restaurant Group will open their second Ouzo Bay location in Late Summer 2016 in Boca Raton's upscale Mizner Park. Designed as a classical Mediterranean revival town center, Mizner Park boasts over 45 luxury retailers and restaurants.

The 325-seat restaurant reflects the core concept of OUZO BAY's flagship location in Baltimore, Maryland, offering contemporary Mediterranean cuisine with a strong Greek influence. There will be 200 seats inside, 100 outside and a private cigar bar area. Fish at Ouzo Bay is flown in fresh daily and expect delicacies like dover sole, red snapper, all fish prepared with head and tail on, grilled magnificently. Complementing the seafood menu, Ouzo Bay will also have an extensive selection of fine-quality cuts of grass fed lamb, prime beef and organic chicken. It wll have Donny McCafferty, moving from the managerial position in Baltimore to Boca.

My all time love, for a healthy splurge is the charcoal, grilled octopus served with a caper vinegrette over a bed of lucious hommos.

The layering of melding of flavors is spectacular as one will find on all of the dishes.

I dream of this dish almost daily.

In addition to the impressive culinary line up, Ouzo Bay's posh full service bar will feature handcrafted cocktails, small-batch whiskeys and a wine list that is emphasized by Greek wines. Ouzo Bay's name is a nod to one of the East Coast's largest selections of traditional Greek ouzo and the complimentary shot given to each diner at the end of their meal.

"With Ouzo Bay Boca Raton, we will continue to bring our customers the finest quality ingredients from the Mediterranean, matched by our chic bar atmosphere," says Smith. "We feel that Mizner Park and Boca Raton will be a perfect fit for our fish flown in fresh from around the world complemented with hand made cocktails and an enormous wine and spirits list."

OUZO BAY was a highly anticipated addition to Baltimore's Harbor East upscale eateries in 2013. It has not disappointed. I have been back a dozen times or so. Each time there is a happening vibe, the food is consistent and the service is top notch. Ouzo Bay is owned and operated by Alex Smith and partner, George Aligeorgas. Alex is a lacrosse champion, winning numerous awards during his days at high school, college also played professionally with the Chesapeake Bayhawks. Alex knows the term "winning! He owns and manages other spots in the neighborhood: Harbor East Deli, Manchurian Rice Company, Azumi in the Four Seasons and Haagen Dazs Ice Cream.

Ouzo is most definitely a “happening kind of place”!  The kind of place that people in the country drive over 20 miles to come a couple times a week and one that local trendy people like to hangout. The bar is stunning and the wine list is extensive, with emphasis on Greek wines. I sipped on a Greek dry white and then changed to a California Chardonnay with my meal. Below are a pictorial of our dinner experience.

Pampering service by a well versed staff and food that is sensational. All of the dishes are skillfully prepared by veteran Chef Michael Everd and the General Manager Brian McCormack. The place was hopping on a frigid Wednesday night. No problem, the gracious hospitality by our server, Steven, and stunning food warmed us up just perfectly.

Ouzo Bay,Mizner Park, will serve lunch and dinner 7 days a week.
