Ashok Bajaj’s acclaimed restaurant, The Oval Room, located just steps from the White House at 800 Connecticut Ave., NW, 20006, invites guests  to come celebrate the highly prized white truffle with a special tasting  menu.  Priced at an affordable $85 per person, or $115 with wine pairings  (tax and gratuity not included), Executive Chef John Melfi has crafted a  four-course tasting menu, which is available exclusively during dinner  service through mid-November. One of the most valuable truffles on the market, the white truffle is  traditionally harvested from September to late December.  It is found  mainly in the Langhe and Montferrat areas of the Piedmont region in  Northern Italy and, most famously, in the countryside around the cities of  Alba and Asti.  At The Oval Room, guests will have the rare opportunity  to experience the slightly garlicky taste and deep earthy aroma of the  white truffle with expert wine pairings that complement the pungent and  delicious fungi.  Standout wines include the 2014 Nessa Albariño, 2013  Albert Bichot Chablis, 2013 Damilano Barbera d’Asti, and the 2013  Standing Stone Ice Wine. The complete menu is listed below.
