Susan G. Komen is the largest non-profit organization in the world dedicated to fighting breast cancer. Since 1982, every major advance in breast cancer research has been touched by Komen funds. Through events like the Race for the Cure, Komen Maryland has funded more than $37 million in the last 22 years for local breast health programs, education, and transformative national research. 75% of net donations stay in Maryland, while 25% funds national research. Every inch. Every foot. Every mile. Every step is a chance to end breast cancer. #onestepcloser is our call to action for the Komen Maryland Race for the Cure in Hunt Valley on October 25, 2015. Check out our blog at www.komenmdblog.org for survivor stories and more about our mission and why we do what we do. New this year! As a result of participant focus groups conducted earlier this year, we have made some changes and added fresh new activities to the Race day celebration: Come for the RUN stay for the FUN: The Race will still begin at 8 am (runners first, then walkers), but most of the celebration village activities will take place after the Race. The Survivor Parade has been moved to 9:40 and a Survivor Dance Party has been added after the group photo. FOOD TRUCKS!! After the Race, there will be food trucks in the village with a variety of goodies for sale and a seating area to enjoy the deliciousness. A portion of the food truck sale proceeds will be donated to Komen Maryland, so be sure to bring some cash to the Race.
