Stealth Eye for the Spy

You may have seen Largo’s dinner jacket and Miranda Frost’s bustier in Exquisitely Evil: 50 Years of Bond Villains, but did you really see them?  The world of 007 is a remarkably stylish one—from Bond himself to his colleagues, his villainous adversaries, their henchmen, and the fabulous Bond girls, both good and evil.  No one knows style better than Stacy London, and no one knows what works as an intelligence officer on the move like Tony Shaffer.  London is the well-known fashion stylist and author, currently hosting her hit showLove, Lust or Run.  Schaffer is a retired Lt. Col, a bestselling author, and former clandestine operative. This evening, this charismatic duo will explore classic scenes from the Bond films and emphasize how the dash, design, and flair of the films’ costumes support the spy world in the movies and parallel real life.  Shaffer will explore Bond movie scenarios and tradecraft and how the fashions support the mission from the perspective of his 30 year career as an operative.  London will comment on how the clothing in the films reflects the latest styles, the character of the wearer, and how it harkens back or evokes outside influences. They will also discuss how clothing can make you blend in or stick out and how culturally sensitive clothing and manners might be a spy or a civilian’s best disguise.
