Relais & Chateaux crowns new spot in Baltimore, Maryland USA-The Ivy Hotel

Primary tabs

In 1889, John Gilman, prosperous banker and industrialist, commissioned a mansion in Mount Vernon, Baltimore’s most prestigious neighborhood at the corner of Biddle and North Calvert Streets. Fast forward to 2015, the mansion gets a makeover and opens as boutique hotel called The Ivy Hotel. Containing nine airy, light-filled suites and nine beautiful bedrooms, all complete with four-poster bed fitted draped in lush 400-thread count Frette sheets, a gas fireplace and a lavish bathroom with heated limestone floor.

And, as of today, it is now accredited as the first Relais & Chateuaux in Baltimore, Maryland. The Relais & Chateaux experiences are top of the line. I have stayed in a few from Casa Lapostolle in Chile to Hotel Heritage in Belgium. I look forward to dining in their restaurant, Magdalena.

Established 60 years ago when top hoteliers teamed up with talented chefs, Relais & Châteaux now sets the standard for excellence in hospitality and culinary arts. Relais & Chateaux is not a chain but an Association of 530 outstanding properties, with independent owners, Maîtres de Maison and chefs. These rare individuals open up whole new worlds in upscale hospitality.

Congratulations to the Team at The Ivy led by General Manager, Rob Arthur.
