It was September 5, 1995, and I was at the big game vs California Angels at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. It was an evening when the world watched the trememdous, athletic 'happening' as Cal Ripken circled the bases, on his historic 2131 game streak. Wow, was it exciting.  And, I still have my ticket, signed on the back, by the Iron Man!

In honor of the 20th Anniversary of Cal Ripken, Jr. breaking Lou Gehrig's record for the most consecutive games played (2131), Axios Wine has introduced a limited edition "2131" Cabernet, which marks the third and final partnership of the anniversary celebration. The official release date of "2131" is set for November 1, 2015, but pre-orders are being accepted now on a first come, first served basis. One-third of the proceeds from the limited edition wine will benefit the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation.

Axios Wines are spearheaded by Gus Kalaris, founder and owner of Constantine Wines. His 28 year old wine distribution and import company has gained a strong reputation for premium offerings. Under his leadership, Constantine Wines has enjoyed decades of uninterrupted growth. Kalaris founded Axios, a luxury Napa Valley wine brand in 1999 to much acclaim.

The success of Axios has spawned the Worthy, Truth and Kalaris brands"Axios", meaning worthy in Greek, reflects Gus' vision to craft a wine of Bordeaux influence that represents the richness of its' Napa Valley origin.

When asked what he thought of Cal he exclaimed, "I was at that game too. Me too! Who knew I would become friends with my idol!"
