The Bordeaux varialtal winemaker, Duckhorn is one of my all-time favorites, so I jumped at the invitation to taste the new arrivals of the cabernet, merlot, sauvignon blanc, chardonnay and more. In conjunction with Bin 66 & Vintage Imports, the menu is as follows:
Amuse Bouche
Jumbo Lump Crab, Tomato Aspic, Avocado, Maine Lobster Pots de Crème
Decoy Sauvignon Blanc, 2013
Feta, Pea and Pancetta with Duckhorn Chardonnay, 2013
Veal Tenderloin, Fontina Aligot, Pink Peppercorn Demi-glace, paired with Migration Pinot Noir, 2013
Halibut, Porcini and Blueberry, paired with Duckhorn Merlot, 2012.
This merlot is a wine I am super excited to try. Described by experts as, a complex blend of several individual vineyard lots, incorporating fruit from our Estate Vineyards and from top independent growers throughout the Napa Valley. The final wine is a rich and cohesive expression of the entire Napa Valley, reflecting the varied microclimates and soils of this unique appellation. The price is around $50/bottle.
