On Wednesday, April 22nd, City Tap House, the craft beer-focused restaurant located at 901 9th Street, NW, 20001, will showcase beers of environmental stewards to include Long Trail Brewing Company, Otter Creek Brewing, and Wolaver’s Organic Ales in honor of Earth Day. Between six and nine of City Tap House's draft lines will be occupied by these Vermont-based environmentally friendly breweries. Guests can enjoy these craft brews during the entire day with prices ranging from $5 to $8 each. As an added bonus, representatives from Long Trail Brewery will be present giving away free reusable Eco-bag shopping bags, Earth Day pint glasses as well as complimentary T-shirts.
Each brewery is uniquely committed to sustainable brewing practices and environmental stewardship. Long Trail Brewing Company utilizes recycled glass bottles and green glass bottles for their craft brews, while Otter Creek Brewing has successfully reduced their contribution to the waste stream and is always looking for new ways to improve. Additionally, Otter Creek's spent hops and yeast are donated to local farmers for use as an alternative fertilizer, and their spent grain feeds local dairy cows. Wolaver's Organic Ales stays true to the motto “better beer, better world” by being the first certified organic brewery in the United States as well as having a Non-GMO project verification. Wolaver's uses organic farming and local ingredient sourcing to produce the finest organic ales.
