Owners Nikki and Antre Lewis write us, that sadly, open less than a year, The Mallow Bar, the “crispy treat dessert café, is closing at the Horseshoe Casino in Baltimore, MD. Housed in an area on the first floor of the casino called the Baltimore Marketplace, The Mallow Bar shared the floor with other local purveyors: Tark’s Seafood & Chicken, Piezzetta, Heavy Seas Burger Bar, Lenny’s Deli and B’More Beers.
The Mallow Bar kept it real and local to its Baltimore roots serving gourmet specialty coffees and additional sweet offerings including pastries, pies and gelato, from local producers like Popsations, Mouth Party, Michele's Granola, Dangerously Delicious Pies.
In a letter to CITYPEEK, owner, Nikki Lewis explains:
"This weekend, through next week will be the last time you'll be able to Get Mallow with us at Horseshoe Casino, Baltimore. We are closing for good. It's been a great experience but ultimately the Horseshoe customer and our product mix just didn't take hold. It was a hard but necessary business decision for us but we must move on...
Our main mission with The Mallow Bar and Mallow Crunchies has always been to encourage aspiring entrepreneurs and, in regard to our Horseshoe Casino location, I leave you with these ideas heard recently from one of our business mentors:
1. Have a BIG dream. Make it so big you're almost scared to speak it.
2. Have the guts to pursue it. Push through your fears; know everyone has them.
3. Take action and RUN toward your dream. Don't delay.
4. Pivot when necessary. Change course when you know it's time or else you waste time, money and resources."
But there are big expansion plans for Mallow Crunchies as they are curently building a new The Mallow Bar Production House in White Marsh, Maryland! Nikki is very excited at the new venture and we cant wait to check it out as well!
