FLOFest DC

FLOFest DC 2014 is a music, wine and literary festival designed to showcase Jazz, Latin, Alternative Rock music, specialty wines, international food and books for the public’s Labor Day enjoyment. It will take place Monday, September 1st with gates opening at 10 AM at the DC Gateway to showcase tastings and pairing workshops, an authors’ pavilion, and chef demonstrations by Chef Huda. Wines from award-winning vineyards including House of Mandela and Heritage Link will provide tastings throughout the FLOFest as well. FLOFest will be the first event of its kind to be held at Gateway DC. FLO selected the innovatively designed facility in support of the District’s larger revitalization of the East of the River community and the people who live there.

FLOFest DC is the creation of nationally renowned jazz artist and entrepreneur Marcus Johnson, who is CEO and Founder of FLO Brands, LLC and FLO Wine, LLC. The MC and host of the afternoon will be radio and TV personality Cortney Hicks. Cortney Hicks has a long-standing career, formerly the Radio One Inc. syndicated Midday Host for Detroit's 105.9 KISS and Washington DC’s, Majic 102.3. Entertainers for this special production include jazz artist Marcus Johnson; Rudy Gonzalez Latin Band; The Donvonte McCoy Latin Jazz Orchestra, and soulful rock songstress Beverly McClellan. Participants are encouraged to bring a folding chair or blanket to take a seat and enjoy the day of lively shows and cultural entertainment. Tickets for FLOFest can be purchased at www.flofestdc.com for $45 and include two food samplings and at least four wine tastings.
