The Event: This Creative Black-Tie preferred event is a benefit for youth entrepreneurship. The evening will feature dynamic local artists, including live music, interactive artwork being created during the event, tastings by local restaurants, guided tours of current Maryland Historical Society exhibits as well as a silent auction and live auctioning of the completed interactive art pieces. All proceeds from the event will benefit I AM O'Kah'!'s entrepreneurship and financial literacy program - Financial Rockstar Academy and the Kahdine Ann DaCosta Scholarship for Excellence in Leadership.
The Organization: The mission of I AM O’KAH! is to empower all youth to unlock their greatest potential: through mentorship, scholarships and programs that help them navigate through socio-economic barriers to success. We use entrepreneurship and financial literacy training to teach our youth confidence and personal financial security. I AM O’KAH! was founded in May 2011 in memory of Kahdine Ann DaCosta. In 2004, at the tender age of 26, Kahdine lost her battle to breast cancer, but left behind a legacy of mentorship and scholarship. I AM O’KAH! was born as the answer to the dreams Kahdine left behind. To date, I AM O’KAH! has distributed scholarships to students attending McDaniel College, University of Baltimore, Baltimore City Community College and University of Miami. The Financial Rockstar Academy embodies Kahdine’s entrepreneurial spirit and is presently being taught to over 60 fourth graders at a Mars Estates Elementary in Essex.
