LOCAL BLOGGER RAISES CHICKENS IN HAMPDEN AND MAKES AMAZING SALTED CARAMEL BROWNIES-New Brownies Are Available at Ma Petite Shoe in Hampden
Amy Langrehr grew up in Baltimore County, now lives in Baltimore City, is a food blogger, raises chickens and most recently, started her own gourmet brownie line being sold at Ma Petite Shoe on 36th Street in Hampden. Charm City Cook Salted Caramel Brownies combine three kinds of chocolate, sea salt and homemade caramel to create a decadent, dense fudgy brownie.
“I've always been interested in food, but I really started cooking seriously after a trip to France several years ago. During the trip, I had some kind of culinary epiphany and even had the chance to spend some time with Ina Garten through the friend I was visiting in Paris. When I got home, I was so inspired - and ready to cook! One of the things I love best about cooking is that you can constantly learn new things. These brownies are the result of many hours in the kitchen trying to create a great salty/sweet dessert. I'm not a huge sweets person, so the salted caramel is perfect to me,” said Ms. Langrehr, food blogger, cook, baker and (sometimes) caterer.
Currently, the Charm City Cook Salted Caramel Brownies are sold at Ma Petite Shoe. Ms. Langrehr plans to expand her distribution of the product to other retail locations later this spring. The ingredients for the brownies include free range eggs from the Waverly Farmers Market and also eggs from her own back yard from her very own Ameraucana hens!
