Here is the backgrounder from our past article:

Local restaurant gem, ALCHEMY in Hampden, Baltimore Maryland was plucked out of thin air to be featured in a new reality TV show called What's Next, by RLTV, (also known as Redefined Life). Scheduled to air nationally on cable in Spring 2013, the foodie show uses the small 75 seat venue ALCHEMY's partners Sommelier/Pastry-Bread-Sweets Debi Bell-Matassa and Executive Chef Michael Matassa to cover and tackle issues like: how do you run a business, how do you manage to work side by side your spouse, how do you pick up the pieces after losing everything due to dealing with personal health issues?  The What's Next producers even made the happy couple, who just celebrated their 20 wedding anniversary, go to a marriage counselor to discuss the ins and outs of spouses working together.

RLTV does have a Baltimore connection. John Erickson is the Founder and Executive Chairman of RLTV and Erickson Living, a privately held company based in Baltimore that he founded in 1983. RLTV touts itself as a cable network different than any other. It says it is the only cable network and online destination building a relationship with the 50+ audience by connecting to them as highly experienced and knowledgeable adults about what matters to them.

"The show came to us, states Chef Debi Bell-Matassa, to show how we used the opportunity in our restaurant creation to express what we feel passionately in our hearts-the need to feed people. We were given this platform to showcase our life, our trials and tribulations, all which come together to help build our dream, ALCHEMY," she continues.

The couple has already packed in over 100 hours of filming in multiple venues from their home to work and even to office of a marriage counselor. Executive Producer, Brian Armstrong, relocated to Boston from Australia for the filming. The host is Paulie Dimeo, Actor/Co-Host of Extreme House Makeovers.

Alchemy is the second success in the Matassa's restaurant world. Their first was the popular Fallston spot, Fusion, which was forced to close after Chef Debi underwent difficult breast cancer treatment in 2005. Alchemy has been bustling 7 days a week, since its opening in 2010.
