Welcome to The Philadelphia Singers' 39th Season!
The Philadelphia Singers present an evening of musical discoveries with "Bach and the Mendelssohns" on Saturday, October 29th at the Church of the Holy Trinity in Philadelphia. In this intriguing concert, travel on a musical exploration to discover the influence of J.S. Bach on both Mendelssohns, brother and sister. This concert provides a rare opportunity to hear both the Bach and Mendelssohn "Magnificats," along with many of Felix Mendelssohn's lesser-known choral works.
Also, be sure to attend the Pre-concert Talk at 7pm at the Curtis Institute of Music, Field hall, 1726 Locust Street, Philadelphia.
R. Larry Todd, Professor of Music at Duke University, and George B. Stauffer, Professor of Music History and Dean of the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University, will speak about Felix Mendelssohn and his sister Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel and the influence of J.S. Bach upon the Mendelssohns. The talk with Q&A will conclude 15 minutes before the concert.
