From the Farm to the Table:
Gala Wine Dinner under the Stars
WESTMINSTER, MD -- The Olney Farmers and Artists Market will be holding its annual farm-to-table fundraiser on Sunday, September 18, 2011, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Falcon Ridge Farm, 3811 Backwoods Rd, Westminster, MD 21158. The gala multi-course dinner under the stars will be sponsored by Sandy Spring Museum.
A team of local chefs (to be announced) will contribute their special talents by preparing the foods for the seated dinner, using local farm-fresh ingredients, chosen to enliven their regional flavor and to pair well with select local dinner wines.
Stanton Gill and Nancy MacBride, owners of Falcon Ridge Farm, will be hosts to about 100 guests. The dinner will begin with a farm tour, champagne and hors d’oeuvres, featuring some Olney Farmers and Artists Market specialties and other local cuisine. Guests will then be treated to a sit-down, multi-course dinner prepared by some of the area’s top chefs. The dinner will feature wine pairings and a vegetarian option. In between courses, the chefs and other speakers will talk about the importance of the Farm-to-Table Movement. Entertainment will include live music, a review of the wines, and food demonstrations.
Falcon Ridge Farm is a family-based orchard located in Carroll County on about 70 acres, which features an amazing variety of fruits. They include cherries, blueberries, red and black raspberries, currants, peaches, seedless grapes, apricots, plums, Asian pears, blackberries, native/oriental persimmons, pawpaws, lemons, and more. Many of these farm-fresh fruits will be enjoyed in the preparation of the meal.
For the occasion, all food will be supplied by the Olney Farmers Market’s farmers and food vendors, including Falcon Ridge Farm.
