FOOD PEEK

Seems like just a few months ago I was invited to an opening for the new spot called TANGIER's. Now, this just in to CITYPEEK from the public relations firm of Tangier’s Bistro Bar and Martini Lounge closed until further notice.

“In June, Tangier’s Bistro Bar and Martini Lounge opened in Canton to stellar reviews and accolades for its innovative Northern French Moroccan cuisine. Since that time, visitors to Tangier’s have been treated to a unique dining experience reminiscent of the bistros of northern Morocco and the beaches of southern Spain. Over the past two weeks Tangier’s owner/operator Alan Suissa has encountered some difficult and challenging family issues unrelated to the restaurant. Unfortunately, those issues have caused an interruption in the ongoing operation of Tangier’s.

Suissa is working his way through these matters and expects to resume operation of the restaurant within the month.”

Kevin Cooper, owner of Porters Pub in Federal Hill writes CITYPEEK that "We hired Ben Troast as Executive Chef and are very excited to have his skills in the kitchen." recently Chef Troast worked at Regi's Bistro. Chef Ben states" I 'm really happy to be back together with Kevin as we worked together at REGI's" Chef Ben has also worked at The Milton Inn and the Eastern Shore where he grew up. No changes at REGI's-co-owner with his wife, Sande, Alan Morstein tells CITYPEEK he is delighted with and keeping his kitchen staff as is.

At a recent visit to Porters Pub, my friend and I enjoyed a delicious grilled chicken Thai-style and a hamburger with fries-excellent bun- recently. The wine list is above average for a typical neighborhood bar. The place was bustling with regulars. Give  a try if you haven't in addition to REGI's- named by CITYPEEK.com as the CHEERS BAR OF FEDERAL HILL."

PIGTOWN has a new spot--grand opening of Tommy's Downtown Tavern located at 839 W. Cross Street at the corner of Cross and W. Hamburg. Anyone been-please write a review below.
