Former Attorney turned baker, whose success includes a show on the Food Network and 6 other locations in the DC area, Warren Brown of CakeLove closed his Canton business after a two year run. Warren personally writes CITYPEEK exclusively with this statement, "We're sad to leave Canton, but excited for good things going on this spring. My wife and I welcomed our first child, a baby girl, Poplar Brown. I also have a new book, United Cakes of America, to be published in May and am opening a shop in Northern VA this spring. It's a busy time!"

Recently CITYPEEK Patti attended the grand opening of MILAN Restaurant in Little Italy, in the former Luiggi Petti spot on Eastern Avenue. Accompanied with Giovanna Blatterman, partner/owner of her daughter's namesake Cafe Gia (where our group began our evening--Cafe Gia is reviewed in January Baltimore Magazine-read it), Sophie Dagenais, Ballard, Spahr Partner and just named the Chief of Staff for Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake (yeah!) and Keith Berghoff, Assistant General Manager of the new Holiday Inn Express just by Fallsway & the Baltimore Farmers' Market. We enjoyed free flowing montalpulcino wine and a fresh in-house sushi bar orchestrated by Amy Elias' Profiles, Inc executives: Amy Burke, Bridget Forney, Amy Larimore and Melissa. Seen in crowd was my fav weathermen from WJZ-TV Marty Bass and Tim Williams, Dara & Tom Bunjun, Julio-Park Heights Association, Anna Custer-LIVE Baltimore, Chuck-Reliable-Churchill, Jack Tomalis, WHERE, Patti Quicksilver, Diane Mackler, Randi Rom, STYLE's Brian Lawrence, Eddie Applefeld and Christian Johansen, DBED, Sarah Hisimoto, Visit Baltimore
We received a tour by MILAN owners/GM. The spot is unique for Baltimore (circa Blue Hill Tavern, Red Maple & Pazo) as it is designed and feels like some of New York City's top dinner/clubs touting gorgeous leather-skinned-like wallpaper and private rooms where couples and small parties can hang out and relax on its top floor. The 2-floor nightspot is open for drinks and dinner but also feels welcoming for a place to hang out after dinner at nearby spots like ALDO's, Cafe Gia, La Scala, or HARBOR East's TALARA, FLEMING'S, ROY's, CINGHIALE, PAZO.
MIGUEL's COCINA y CANTINA is open for business in SILO POINTCondos. Delicious, authenitc Mexican food served up by owner Chef Michael Marx, former owner of Blue Agave and also sister restaurant to his RUB BAR B Q. Enjoy the marg of the day, fresh guacolmole and homemade chips, the shrimp and jican appetizer rocks. Cannot wait to sip outisde during less snowy months at Miguel's- ole!

Kevin Cooper, recently named, but longtime renown as one of Baltimore's Best Bartenders has left his perch at what CITYPEEK calls 'The Cheers Bar of Federal Hill", REGI's AMERICAN BISTRO in Federal Hil to open his own spot. His new yet-to-be named. Menu looks upscale pub, leaning towards 'gastro pub' with lovely items like venison, filet, sea bass, glazes and truffle butter toppings, but also includes familiar comfort foods like burgers, sandwiches, hand cut friens with old bay and hearty salads.
