WINEd Up

This past Tuesday (12/1) was The Wine Market's Holiday WINEd Up tasting. It is always extremely popular , and came well recommended. This year was no exception, I can't comment on last year as tickets sold out extremely quickly before I was able to jump on it.

Over 30 wines from around the world were sampled accompanied by hand-passed Hors D'Oeuvres prepared by Chef Jason Lear.

Always favorites: fried macaroni and cheese, smoked duck, cornmeal breaded oysters, and lamb chops were served as well as four others, the ingredients of which escape me at the moment, I blame the minor memory lapse on the fabulous wine parings.

Being slightly chilly out we stuck to some of the heavier reds with the Lamerti Valpolicella from Italy, Rockbare Shiraz (Australia) which had chocolate notes and the classic jammy, blackberry flavor expected in a Shiraz, rounding out the top three reds was the Re Manfredi Anglianico which was drier and had more mineral notes. Best of all, every wine being tasted that night carried a 20% discount on bottle or case.

We highly recommend you subscribe to the CITYpeek newsletter, continue to check the Baltimore Events sections here and Wine Market Updates to keep apprised of future happenings!

Ciao for now!!!
