MD Artist-in-Residence Public Art Show

ORGANIZATION: Howard County Arts Council & Howard Hughes Corporation

We are hosting an afternoon of public art sculptures, live performances and art activities in the new Color Bust Park and Mango Tree Lane within the Merriweather District. The MD AIR artists are presenting the world that they spent creating in the studio for since the beginning of August. The residency this year celebrates the theme of “commUNITY” this year as we have come together to support these artists and their creative process during COVID-19 times and the unrest we are seeing in our country. Event will feature:
- Color Burst Park and Mango Tree Lane will convert into a walkable and interactive art park
- Variety of wood sculptures and forms [Peter Krsko + Ying Zhu]
- Performance + yoga at Color Burst Park [Amy Reid]
- Soundscape curation [Johannes Barfield]
- Projection and light installation at 6100 [Amy Reid]
- Food Trucks
- Chalk Art and Community Draw wall areas designated
- Splash Pad opened
