Get crackin’ at The Arc Baltimore’s 18th Annual Art in the Round – the art exhibit and auction showcasing the talent and artistry of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Featuring 80 pieces of art on exhibit representing more than 60 artists, this year’s crab-themed Art in the Round will be held from 7-10:30 p.m. on Friday, October 18 at the Grand Lodge of Maryland (304 International Circle, Hunt Valley, MD).

By attending Art in the Round, you will gain special access to the artists, who will be on-site to discuss the inspiration behind their artwork. You may just fall in love with a particular piece, like this year’s featured art – “Maryland Blues” by artist Maria Rosner, selected from last year’s exhibit. Then by bidding generously, that artwork can become the centerpiece of your home.

In addition to bidding (and now, mobile bidding) for the artwork, though, attendees can enjoy an open bar featuring a specialty drink offering, heavy hors d’oeuvres, and lots a great networking opportunities.

“Art in the Round has become The Arc Baltimore’s most anticipated annual event,” says the organization’s Executive Director, Kathleen Durkin. “Each year, Art in the Round has attracted more artists, more artwork, and more attendees, so I’m very confident this year will be our biggest Art in the Round ever.”

According to Durkin, proceeds from Art in the Round help The Arc Baltimore to support art classes, workshops, and other mission-related programs for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Featured artists receive 60 percent of the winning bid for each piece of art sold. In addition, The Arc Baltimore presents a financial award to the artist whose work is chosen to be used for next year’s Art in the Round promotional poster.

Artists have until September 13 to submit artwork for review. Artwork exhibited at Art in the Round will then be chosen by a selection committee of art enthusiasts from more than 200 pieces typically submitted.

More than 400 people are expected to attend this year’s Art in the Round. Tickets are $85 per person and $800 for a reserved table of 10. Tickets can be purchased online at www.thearcbaltimore.org.
