Victoria Gastropub in Columbia, “a British term for a Public House which specializes in high quality food a step above the more basic pub grub." The name is a portmanteau (combination) of “pub” (the short form of public house) and “gastro” (short for gastronomy, or food-related). In its simplest form, a Gastro Pub is “a place with a warm, inviting pub atmosphere that serves sophisticated, yet unpretentious food.” An extensive, and creative, Beer and Wine List is an integral part of the concept. The kitchen serves innovative twists on classic pub fare that stress quality and freshness with every recipe, and every ingredient. The menu items draw from both national and international cooking traditions and will remain in harmony with the seasonal availability of high-quality ingredients. The atmoshere is like your living room, comfortable and casual. One of Columbia area's best bars and restaurants by CITYPEEK.com.

Victoria Gastro Pub 8201 Snowden River Pkwy, Columbia, MD 21045 Reviewed by Drayton F. Loved this place. Really a find in the middle of a long commute for me. I live in Baltimore and work close to DC, so this is about half way and what a great surprise. I saw Victoria Gastro Pub on http://Citypeek.com and decided to stop on the way to an event at work. I would go just for the duck fat fries (cooked in duck fat and peanut oil). Amazing taste and incredibly unique. Well worth it. There's a great wine list. There's a killer beer menu. Happened to be with an incredibly attractive wine lover and we had a blast picking wine on an a really gem packed wine list. Great starter glass of champagne with a nicely presented cheese plate. We also had a couple glasses of a really well priced Mondavi Cab that was only one of the many great picks on the wine list. Neither of us were in a 'beer mood' but the beer list is worth going back for. A lot of cool pre packaged beer flights and a well educated staff that loves to talk about the beer wine and food menus. All of the Front of House Service was fantastic. We split the Kobe Burger and a Cobb salad which they split for us. Everything was great-the food, the service, the atmosphere. Also, the acoustics are even good. Vics was packed and it was really easy to have a quiet conversation without feeling like we were yelling at your dinner companion. We ran out of time or we would have tried the dessert and cordial menu. I'll go back in a heart beat.

Went there for lunch with a dear friend in mid June and was surprised and delighted to find such a unique eatery amid all the roadside chain restaurant clutter. Great, eclectic menu. We ordered the Cuban sandwich (delicious), a seafood salad (hearty), and opted for the duck fat fries (OMG!). The beer menu was extensive and mouthwatering -- we were tempted to try a few but decided to leave something to come back for. And soon!

On several occasions, I have visited Victoria Gastro Pub and I have never once been disappointed. A good friend of mine who lives in the Columbia area first introduced me to this restaurant. She informed me of the fact that they serve something called "duck fat fries". I must admit that I was hesitant about this at first. However, I decided to try both those and the fried green beans and changed my initial reaction. They were marvelous! The Cuban Panini that I enjoyed during that lunch was also delicious. In addition to this, I have not seen such an extensive beer/wine list at any other eatery that I have visited. The service could have been a bit faster, however, it was certainly not horrendous. I cannot wait for my next visit to Victoria for my Mother's birthday lunch in the coming week. I give Victoria and overall rating of 4 hearts and highly recommend it to any fellow foodies looking for something different and delicious. :)
