About Faces Day Spa Makes Community a Priority
Patrick Brennan, CEO of About Faces Day Spa and Salon, and the staff at the company's salons around Maryland recognize that giving back to the community is a top priority of the firm.

Each year About Faces donates more than $50,000 to local philanthropic groups and organizations, and holds special appreciation days for police, firefighters and military personnel, as well as fundraisers to support breast cancer awareness and education.

"As a company, we are committed to giving back to the community," explains Brennan, "but what is even more rewarding is the commitment each of our professionals has when it comes to donating their time and talents to really make a difference in the lives of so many others."

Last fall About Faces sold pink hair extensions at a cost of $10 each to more than 1300 clients. The company also sold more than $12,000 of pink retail products with About Faces suppliers contributing part of their receipts towards the American Cancer Society's "Make Strides Against Cancer" effort. The company also promoted and sold "Fight Like a Girl" t-shirts to their staff and clients.

During October's breast cancer awareness month, pink decorations, pink shampoo capes and pink service products were featured in all five of the company's salons. And proceeds from any "pink" retail home care items sold went towards breast cancer research.

The company partnered with several local vendors to offer an "Ultimate Makeover and More" package valued at $1,000 to a cancer survivor. The package included an anti-stress facial, a one-hour body massage, a spa manicure and pedicure, brow wax, highlights or one-process hair color, teeth whitening, an About Faces signature robe, as well as clothes and jewelry from other retailers.

Each year on September 11th, the salons offer free manicures and haircuts to military service personnel, fire fighters and policemen and women, which translates into approximately 200 hours of donated service personnel time for the company.

In the spring About Faces goes "green" by offering green hair extensions from mid-March to mid-April with proceeds going to the American Cancer Society and the Save the Bay Foundation.

The company also makes special efforts to employ green practices whenever possible and uses environmentally friendly products in its operations.
