In celebration of the United States Navy’s 236th Birthday, author Tim McGrath will present John Barry: An American Hero in the Age of Sail. Guests are invited to learn about one of the U.S. Navy’s founding fathers through this biography, which explores the life of “Father of Time” John Barry, who was appointed head of the Navy following the Revolutionary War by President George Washington and helped to open trade with China. The reading is part of the U.S. Navy Memorial’s “Authors of Deck” book lecture series.
