Theatre Exile presents the Philadelphia premiere of Buzzer by Buzzer by Tracey Scott Wilson from May 4 to 28, 2017, at Studio X (1340 S. 13th Street). Jackson, an upwardly-mobile black attorney, has just bought an apartment in a transitioning neighborhood in Brooklyn. He sees the potential of his old neighborhood, as does his white girlfriend Suzy…at first. When Jackson’s childhood friend Don leaves rehab to crash with them, the trio quickly becomes trapped between the tensions inside their own home and the dangers that may lurk outside. Directed by Matt Pfeiffer.

Theatre Exile presents the Philadelphia premiere of Guards at the Taj, by Pulitzer Prize Finalist Rajiv Joseph, from October 20 through November 13, 2016, at Studio X (1340 S. 13th Street). Directed by Deborah Block, this play takes place in 1648 India and follows two Imperial Guards as they watch the sunrise for the first time on the newly-completed Taj Mahal. When they are ordered to perform an unthinkable task, the aftermath forces them to question the concepts of friendship, beauty, and duty, and it changes them forever.

Clean Air Council's Dine Out for the Environment returns on Thursday, October 13, 2016. Restaurants across the Philadelphia region will be serving up their signature dishes and highlighting their commitment to sustainability during. Head off to dozens of locations around the city for a sneak peek into impressive kitchens that work hard to support local farms, reduce waste and chemical usage, and leave the world a better place for future generations.

Taproom on 19th (2400 S 19th Street) is on the search for Philly’s best meatballs and gravy. Come cheer on the contestants at Taproom’s 3rd Annual Gravy Contest on Sunday, October 2, 2016, from 5:00 to 7:00pm. Celebrity judges will pick the best meatballs and best gravy served up from top chefs, home cooks, bloggers, food critics and South Philly locals. The winner will get bragging rights, a cash prize plus swag gifts. Bar specials will include $3 Lagers, $10 Chetty pitchers, $2.5 Millers, half price wings and more.  Admission is free.

Taproom on 19th (2400 S. 19th) and the Philly Mobile Food Truck Association celebrate the return of fall with their second “Tappin’ The Trucks, Brews n’ Bites Block Party” on Sunday, October 16, 2016, from Noon to 7:00pm. Five food trucks and five local brewers will pop-up outside of Taproom for an afternoon of brews, bites and live tunes. The taps will be flowing with all craft drafts specially priced. Food trucks will include The Cow and the Curd, J'eet, Oink and Moo BBQ, Foolish Waffles, Sweet Box. Local breweries to be announced. All food and drink will be pay-as-you-go, cash only.
