CITYPEEK Scoops--Two new businesses will bring a new business influx to the South Baltimore (known as Locust Point)

CITYPEEK WINE PEEK of The Week:  PLEASE please please. A new hotspot is close to joining Miguel's Cocino y Cantina in South Baltimore. complex. Hopefully,  13.5% Wine Bar from Hampden, is close to joining the tenant mix in the luxury South Baltimore condominimum complex Silo Point Condominiums.

13.5% Wine Bar  is owned by Wayne Laing (of Wine Underground), managed by Peter Heck (trained with Tony Foreman)  and the kitchen is run by creative Chef Sarah Acconcia. Needless-to-say, I am so excited at this proposed addition to Pat Turner's development. It might have a new name, perhaps 13.6%, but why stop there? Some of my favorite bottles are 14.5%! By the way, the number stands for the percentage of alcohol in a particular bottle of vino

If the reviews from its Hampden location are any indications, the next is sure to please. Read and review here

Down the street

Race Pace Bicycles is has inked its 5th location-a 13,000 square foot shop at 1414 Key Highway. The Ellicott City based business has 3 locations and has been around since 1976. Owner Marc Lefkowitz tells me, "Being in business for over 30 years in Maryland, we are excited to serve cyclists and fitness enthusiasts in downtown Baltimore. With all of the bicycle trails and bicycle routes available, Baltimore is becoming a fantastic bicycle-friendly city, and this is the perfect time to establish ourselves in the city." This will be a welcome addition to Baltimore City as there are a many hard-core cyclists. Hopefully Baltimore city will continue trying to make its city more "biking-friendly! Marc has invited me to go biking, might take him up if it ever gets warmer than this!

A side-note, two summers agoI bought my bike at Princeton Sports. Princeton Sports, since 1936, has locations in Baltimore and Columbia. It is the home of where I bought my hybrid (with the keen help of Chef Nancy Longo/Pierpoint and Alan Davis-Princeton co-owner). The city is excitrd to have another option.
