The Hollywood Diner in Baltimore is a 1954 Mountain View Diner constructed on Long Island, NY and actually operated for 20 years in New Jersey.  The Hollywood was purchased by local director Barry Levinson to use as the 'Fells Point Diner" in his hit movie 'Diner.'

Red Springs Cafe, a casual-dining restaurant, serving authentic “Soul” food featuring fresh vegetables and ingredients, through its partnership with the Chesapeake Center for Youth Development will build upon its existing brand and bring Southern cuisine from North Carolina into Baltimore. The Southern "soul" food of Red Springs Cafe reflects the childhood of Manager/Head Chef, Cheryl Townsend who hails from Red Springs, North Carolina. Chef Townsend comes from a family of cooks; including brothers who still barbeque and make their own sauce in North Carolina (Townsend’s BBQ Sauce will be featured on the Menu). Since 2004, she has successfully run a catering business, formerly Cheryl's Homestyle Cuisine, now Red Springs Catering.

"The Hollywood Diner has an established reputation of a good location for gathering, a good meal, and even a good location for film productions," states Ivan Leshinsky,  Executive Director  Chesapeake Center for Youth Development . "I feel we have a reliable partner in the Red Springs Cafe, which is critical to CCYD's efforts to move young people into a career pathway in food services. Also, a diner offering tasty southern style soul food menu items will be a nice addition to the Baltimore downtown restaurant offerings, "continues Leshinsky.

Menu items include: Southern Fried Chicken, Cajun Fried Catfish, BBQ Ribs, Baked Macaroni and Cheese, Fresh Collard  Greens and Candied Yams. It will be open Monday - Thursday,8:00am to 3:00pm with breakfast served until 2:00pm. Friday, 8:00am to 2:00pm and 8:00pm to 2:00am. Saturday 8:00pm to 2:00am and Sundays, 7am to 4pm (May through November).

a great restaurant

The Hollywood Diner is so much fun, and the food keeps bringing us back. Having grown up in Baltimore and going to the "real" Diner, this brings back lots of memories. The service is great, their french fries and gravy are a tradition. You can get a really good meal at a fair price here - check it out!

Amazing Food, Nice People and Great Atmosphere

Amazing Banana Nut Bread French Toast, Fritatta, and Hamburger! AND Pumpkin Chai to die for...kept us coming back for more. Not only was the food great, the presentation was amazing as well. Thanks so much - you guys ROCK! :) If I ever come back to Baltimore, this is the first place I'll stop.

A diner for foodies

I had the Banana Bread French Toast special yesterday and it was to die for! My friend had the market fritatta which was good too. I love that the chef uses many of his ingrediants from the farmers market next door to the diner. The specials change constantly so we never get bored and the prices are great! It's a great low key place to go, hang out, and have a great meal!
