Contest :)My boyfriend and I are the ultimate foodies and would love to win a gift certificate to City Café. Every Friday night we have date night, where we choose a special restaurant to dine at. City Café is our favorite date night place to wine and dine.We have been to City Café multiple times, for breakfast and/or dinner and the food and experience is always top notch. There was no doubt in my mind that Chef Chad Gauss would win the award for Best New Chef in Baltimore. Everything on their menu is absolutely delicious. Some of our ultimate favorite items include the red sangria, the grilled lamb chops appetizer, the watermelon and feta bruschetta, the caesar salad with blackened salmon and the everything tuna. We have never had a bad experience at City Café and could literally eat there every day of the week. I can definitely say we are true City Cafe fans. Our 2 year anniversary is coming up and we would love to win this gift certificate and celebrate this occasion at City Café. |

Best New Chef!Congratulations! Chad Gauss may be the Best New Chef at City Cafe- but he has been the BEST CHEF around town for along time! I will bet a weeks groceries that Blue Stone in Timonium misses him terribly! This handsome, young man has always been a go getter, like a social butterfly- enthusiastic about his food preparation, presentation and proud of the wonderful melding of flavor choices! Chad's passion for perfection is contagious,a bonus to be able to work with him! I just enjoy breaking bread with him and listening to him talk about food! Yum! I cant wait to win! And if I dont win- it's ok! I am lucky enough to have Chad as my nephew! Keep climbing that ladder Chad- YOU ARE THE BEST! |

Why I Should Win?I don t feel as I should win but we would love to win because a special night out in the city would be a treat for these two country bumpkins! A break from the usual routine and the opportunity to try someplace new and maybe find a new favorite would be great. It s not often I see Moroccan lamb Burgers on a menu and my mouth is watering in anticipation! |

City Cafe - Doesn't get much betterBeen going there for 4 years and have witnessed the transition to a world class establishment. Gino and his staff are the absolute best. The menu has grown under Chad's guidance and care and he really deserves the honor bestowed upon him. Have never had anything less than "great" off the current and ever changing menu. Walked the dog there one evening and he really enjoys the vibe and the food. It just doesn't get much better than that !!!!!!!! Keep up the great work. |

Please choose us to win!My husband is a heating and air conditioning contractor and as such, in summertime he works in hot attics, hot houses and hot businesses. Besides being the hottest summer we can remember, it seems like more air conditioning systems have been breaking down than we recall over the past number of years. While this is good for business, it has put a physical and mental strain on my dear hubby and we have had almost no time to spend enjoying this lovely summer - he goes out early and works long, long hours and we have had very little down time together. We both enjoy great cafes, with their more relaxed atmosphere and good food offerings, and the reviews of City Cafe have made my mouth water! I would love to reward my wonderful husband for all his hard work this summer with an evening out at City Cafe, enjoying Chef Gauss' special offerings. |

Chef Chad wins BEST NEW CHEFCongratulations Chef Chad! Baltimore Magazine names City Cafe's "We love the playfulness-and culinary skill-that executive chef CHAD GAUSS brings to CITY CAFE, 1001 Cathedral Street, 410-539-4252, in Mt. Vernon. After the restaurant went through a substantial renovation a year ago, Gauss came onboard to revamp the kitchen's offerings, too. He changes the menu often to reflect the seasons, but we still happily recall the meal we had there several months ago-a "TV Dinner" (Kobe beef, creamy mashed potatoes, a vegetable medley with edamame, and a thick brownie and "Three Little Pigs" (a grilled pork loin topped with pulled pork and crowned by strips of crisp bacon). |

Sunday Brunch in Baltimore Mt VernonSunday Brunch in Baltimore Mt Vernon took us to City Cafe just before melting into Artscape 2010. We just went for Sunday Brunch-being a hot hot day we settled on the co-owners creation the Bodie Salad, named after Bruce. It was refreshing and light and fabulous. Now the freshly baked cinnamon rolls that greeted us each upon arrival were spectacular! |

City CafeCity Cafe had the perfect mix of a beautiful space, outstanding service, creative menu, and outstanding food. My friend and I enjoyed dinner recently at the City Cafe before a night at the BSO. The mini crabcakes were full of lumps, the Chicken Fun Salad was so delicious that I had to work hard at leaving a small garnish on the side of the plate. Even the iced tea was brewed to perfection. Great job Gino and Bruce! Thanks for the lifesavers to go...nice touch. |

CITY CAFE Serves a lot more than nachos and coffee drinks!City Café Restaurant in Mt Vernon--Your table is waiting...and boy did we enjoy ours at a special “Intimate Dinner Party” thrown by owners Gino Cardinale and Bruce Bodie of CITY CAFÉ and EDIE BROWN, Marketing Relations mentor & gal pal extraordinaire. Joining CITYPEEK Patti were a select group of media executives: Anne Boone –Simanski, Social Columnist and yes, daughter of Sylvia Badger (She learned her trade from the best!) Tonya Black and Pete Amorgeanos, WJZ-TV News Veterans, Karen Bokram-Girl’s Life Magazine, and the always in-the-know, Media Max Weiss, Baltimore Magazine. We enjoyed extensive offerings like fried green tomatoes topped with crab lump, vichyssoise (you know potato and leek soup), tuna seared on a bed of beet and edamame slaw. To top it all off, we each received a small sampling of the most delicious sweets: fabulous bread pudding topped with toffee and chocolate bits, flourless chocolate cake and crème brule. |
