Eli Knauer is 10 years old, and started his blog, Adventures of a Koodie, because he loves to eat! CITYPEEK been asked countless times to cover more kid favorites, so welcome our new Kiddie Peek Blogger, Mr. Eli Knauer (10 years old).
CITYPEEK CEO/Publisher Patti Neumann had the pleasure of sitting down with him as he enjoyed a VIP Kids Experience at Phillips Seafood Restaurants' Harborplace location. This was our introduction to welcome Eli to the CITYPEEK family.
Next, we invited Eli and family to the Inaugural Baltimore Grand Prix and a marvelous overnight in the host hotel, Marriott Inner Harbor Camden Yards. Here is his review of his experience:
I was invited to stay at The Marriott Inner Harbor Camden Yards in Baltimore during the Baltimore Grand Prix. CITYPEEK got us tickets to the first Baltimore Grand Prix on Friday and Saturday. We took the Light Rail to the hotel on Friday afternoon and rode to the 1st Mariner Arena, because our hotel was close to there. It was a short walk and the first thing I thought when we got to the hotel was "This is a nice hotel" because of the electronic door. The hotel also has a ballroom, seats for waiting customers, and even a restaurant called The Yard Sports Bar and Grille.
After we checked in at the counter, a woman came and greeted us and told us our hotel room level and room number. We took the elevator to our room and our room was really nice. It had lots of lights, a desk, a TV, a couch, 2 phones, one bathroom, a bench, and one bed. The couch had a hide-a-bed which was perfect for my brother and I to sleep on.
We put our bags down and then walked outside to the race. It was really loud and the cars went really fast. My brother got his face painted. After we watched a race and it was over, we went back to the hotel so we could decide what to get for dinner. We could have got room service, but my dad went out to get pizza instead at Joe Squared.
After we had dinner, we got our teeth brushed and went to bed. The bed was really comfortable. It was a bright day when I woke up the next morning and the first thing I did was look outside the big windows in our room to see all of the people walking to the Baltimore Grand Prix. Before we did that though I got to meet the chef and have a chef tour at the restaurant at the hotel with my dad. We met Onahlea Shimunek (seen below with Mitch Cooper), the General Manager of the hotel, and she took us to Mitch, the hotel's top chef.
He gave me a chef hat to wear which I still have and explained how the breakfast Buffet works. He said that they cook the eggs and omelets right where you can see it! Next he showed us a bar decorated with checkered flags for a private party that evening. Then he showed us to the kitchen, where he explained the kids pancakes have crushed Fruit Loops on it! He introduced me to the expo, (short for expediter) who checked to make sure all the room service orders were right and had everything they needed. He even told me that they made cup cakes there because of the private party.
When the tour was over, I was hungry. We went back to our room and ordered room service for breakfast. The menu had lots of choices and they even had a kids breakfast with 3 choices which were, Two Eggs Your Way, Silver Dollar Pancakes, and Ham and Egg Muffin Sandwich. I really like pancakes, so I thought I should try them.
The room service took about 30 minutes to come and when it came, it was like the rest of the hotel, fancy. It came on a rolling tray with a black table cloth on and had four waters in wine cups and 1 orange juice in a wine cup. The room service lady showed us everything. I, like I said before, ordered the pancakes, which came with syrup and bacon. What I also noticed was cupcakes and chocolate pretzels shaped like race cars on the plate!
The breakfast was delicious! The pancakes were sweet, and the bacon was juicy and crunchy. Though the pancakes didn't taste like the fruity taste of fruit loops. The cupcakes were also fantastic. I had a chocolate with yellow frosting, so it tasted chocolatey and sweet. I give **** stars for food and **** stars for kid friendly. I also gave 4 stars for kid friendly because they also had a kids all day menu which had items like pasta, 7" pizza, and Simple Grilled Chicken.
After breakfast, we got ready to go to the Baltimore Grand Prix. I thought the hotel was a very nice hotel to stay in because it was fancy with its own room service and being close to the track. I would recommend that other families stay there because they have a good kids menu and the people who work at the hotel were very nice. Well, that's all.
Bye!
