FOODIE EXPERIENCE, An Evening WITH ANTHONY BOURDAIN AND ERIC RIPERT
It is here and CITYPEEK is thrilled to have attended! THE HIPPODROME FOODIE EXPERIENCE, PART OF AN EVENING WITH ANTHONY BOURDAIN AND ERIC RIPERT ON MAY 22, 2010, Audience members joined Anthony Bourdain and Eric Ripert and Regan Warfield from 98-Rock in the foodie Q&A discussion which was both lively and honest. A special shout out to Marilyn Waranch and Megan Miley of Broadway Across America-Baltimore & Washington, DC France-Merrick Performing Arts Center. The event was wonderful. I served pasta with the crew at La Scala. Lynn Cippolone and I along with Beth and Chef Nino's close buddy, Sean served up hot plates until 12:30am. Lynn writes, "What a fun night! Huge turnout and lots of great people. It was awesome to meet Anthony Bourdain and Eric Ripert and also hear some of their stories. Unfortunately we didn't get to sample much of the food-- we were so busy we didn't have time to walk around until most of it was gone! Heard great things though. Hopefully everyone enjoyed our Crab Alla Regina and that Bourdain has some better things to say about Baltimore now!"
In sampling over twenty-one of Baltimore’s top restaurants’ best dishes and mingling with fellow “foodies” at the Hippodrome, the following restaurants represented the Baltimore area proudly and well-many touting pork-bacon-specific entries which is well-known to be Bourdain's favorite.

anthony&eric, and the foodie exp.Eric Ripert was surprisingly witty, and I agree, Reagan was a great host...his homage to James Lipton at the end of the show could've been a bit more original, though. I am still of the fence about Bourdain....his comments about lake trout were not needed(we know it's sub shop grub)although he did attempt to smooth over words he made previously about the city. the foodie exp. was great..will elaborate in my full review on this cite. |

Foodie ExperienceWhat a great time! The Wine Market served two items, one was a berkshire farms garlic sausage with a muscat apple jam, duck liver, and violet mustard. The other was freeze dried corn polenta with homemade ricotta, a late harvest gewürztraminer reduction, and local young basil. It was a fantastic experience to hear Anthony and Eric speak. What a huge turnout for a fun event. |

Hippodromes First Foodie ExperienceWOW! What a turnout! Anthony Bourdain was impressed with 1,800 foodies coming from the Baltimore area to hear about FOOD! Would have enjoyed hearing a little more about Eric Ripert's success at Le Bernardin. City Cafe was happy to participate and dole out about 800 pieces of Cream of Crab Soup, Heathbar Crunch Bread Pudding and Chef CHAD's very own Feta & Watermelon Bruschetta!! |

No ReservationsGreat Show!!! Reagan Warfield was a great moderator and Anthony and Eric told it like it is. Laid back, funny Chefs. Barbara and I had a great time and the food afterwards was great. The Q and A session was perfect and the rapid fire questions with not so rapid fire answers was hilarious. |

Tastings after show on Saturday
By Far, Portalli's had the best fish and La Scala's pasta was amazing. As far as dessert - the chocolate from Peter's Inn.
I was very impressed with the tastings, but the lines were a bit of a problem.
