BlueGrass Restaurant, Federal Hill is delighted to welcome you

BlueGrass Restaurant is almost ready to bust into the Maryland area foodie world with gusto! Firmly grounded by partners, former General Manager and Chef of RYLEIGH's OYSTER, JORBIE CLARK (also GM of The Billabong Bar) and Chef PATRICK MORROW and adding to the 1st string of Baltimore's Best is Sommelier CHRISTOPHER COKER, formally, CORK's RESTAURANT and rounding the team is Ms. Kelli (now engaged ) HOPKINS formally THE WINE MARKET & MOTHER'S GRILLE, the BLUEGRASS team is in final training for a powerful opening day. This team, in itself, is stacked with some of the states finest. Including part-owner, SHANE MITCHELL whose construction company HAWKEYE CONSTRUCTION/GREEN DOOR PROPERTIES has done a terrific build-out under his brother-in-law Chris at the helm on-site.

The Federal Hill BLUEGRASS RESTAURANT tour, guided by General Manager/co-owner, Australian born, Jorbie Clark, included a behind the scenes look at what is sure to impress the community. It is upscale and luxurious, from the hardwood floors to the seat cushions to cozy, sophisticated nooks and hardware details and the best kitchen machinery. But the owners were careful to create a character that is not pretentious.

"I'm exceptionally proud of this wine list," exclaims Sommelier, Chris Coker, "We've already planned three winery dinners, a brewery dinner, bourbon dinner and maybe a wine and cheese pairing event. We are going to have loads of fun!" And trust me, we already recommend them!

Everything is designed with a warmth and welcoming personality. There will be a carryout available for alcohol, remember, this is where MICHAEL FISHMAN ran THE VINE WINE SHOP & Bar was once located so it carries a 7 day liquor license, and also hosts a smokery on site. The restaurant can seat 75 and has a great bistro type bar feel.

With a close attention to sustainable, farm-to-table feshness, fresh herbs will be growing on site and out front. And, look for a fabulous addition; a live fig tree with 6 figs on it, is being flown overseas to grace the front steps of the restaurant.

Team BlueGrass--we couldn't be more excited and thrilled for your addition to the South Baltimore foodie scene! thanks for the special tour. Blue Grass should be opened by end of March/beginning of April-stay tuned. Don't let the location hinder your visit--there will be valet parking offered.

Kiss my grits!

Born in Louisville(pronounced /ˈluː.əvəl/,) I was THRILLED to see real grits on the menu! Coupled with eggs, nice thick slice of ham and a Jim Beam (neat,) I could almost here; "My Old Kentucky Home."

Remember; "No self respectin' Southerner uses instant grits."

Yay -- been driving past this place for weeks!

Boston-based Elephant & Castle Pub and Restaurant plans to open a 6,500-square-foot British Pub bar and eatery in Baltimore City inside the Verizon building during spring 2011. It will be located next to Sullivan's Steakhouse and KONA GRILL.

Elephant and Castle in Baltimore will serve menu items: steak and ale pie, lamb curry, fish and chips, Guinness meatloaf, bangers and mash — a classic English meat and potatoes dish to New York strip steak.
