WHAT: As part of Jaleo’s 20th anniversary celebration José Andrés invites guests to partake in an exclusive García Family Wine Dinner on Thursday, May 16 at 7 p.m. Eduardo García, the son of famed Mariano García, will preside over the dinner to showcase releases from a variety of Spain’s finest wine regions. Jaleo DC’s Head Chef Paul Yeck will prepare a chef’s tasting menu, prefect for pairing with the handpicked wines. Wines featured at the dinner include Paixar 2009; Prima 2010; San Roman 2009; Astrales 2009; Astrales 2010; Astrales Christina 2007, and Astrales 2010. All wines will be poured out of magnum bottles.

WHY: Mariano García has been a legend in the world of wine since he began his work as a winemaker in the mid 1960’s. He was then trained at the School of Winemaking and Viticulture in Madrid. With a passion for experimenting with grapes and producing unique wines, García was named winemaker at the Bodegas Vega Sicilia, Spain’s most prestigious wine estate. Mariano retired in 1998, and he continues to collaborate with his two sons Eduardo and Alberto. The García family owns several wineries including Mauro, Maurodos, Paixar, and Astrales.
