~~~~~ Have you checked out the casual, sophisticated, low key vibe of Willow Fells Point [5] lately? Well, this willow is NOT weeping! Quietly opening a few months ago, Willow [5] is the latest darling of Fells Point owned by partners and childhood friends, Rich Rosen and Ryan Perlberg (of Stuggy's Fells Point and Rye fame) and who are part of a team reponsible for revitalizing the block located next to Jimmy's. Willow Fells Point [5] (the name was chosen because of willow trees' resilient and independent qualities, methinks like the owners) is a gem in the heart of Fells Point and can be described serving a combination of Latin and Tex-Mex infused foods and cocktail pairings. It is decorated with what used to be called shabby-chic and I call sophisticated, low key elegance. It is a warm, comfortable vibe. Feels like you might be entering someone's living room to hang out and relax with friends. I suggest you give it a try starting with their fabulous cocktails developed by Beverage Director of the group, Doug Atwater who is a skilled creative cocktail scientist! (Yes, you can quote that CITYPEEK just named him that!) Wash down the sips, called 'abbreviations,' which compliment the food offerings, with shot infusions, like the 'Dirty Ginger' featuring strawberry tequila with rhubarb bitters, and the aptly named 'Tequila Cube,' a tequila-drenched sugarcane cube down with the fabulous Happy Hour offerings (5-7 pm). Try their tableside-made guacamole and choose your ingredients-real-time, served with fresh, house made chips ($8). As the wait staffer mixes your fresh guac at your table, chat, create a bond with them. You see, this is a restaurant that takes its relationship with its patrons very seriously. This is extremely well-priced spot that locals return to 2 even 3 times in a week. I also suggest the chicken nachos and bbq shrimp quesidillas. Well there is always tomorrow. This is an extremely well-prices spot that neighbors can return to 2 even 3 times in a week. And do NOT leave without trying the s'more cookies ($8)! OMG! Run, don't walk. Open every day til 2 AM. Tell them CITYPEEK Patti sent you! From GM Nick @ Talara: [6] Harbor East "WILL BE CLOSED SUN 1/6/13-WED 1/16/13 FOR RENOVATIONS. After its original Charles Street location was destroyed by fire December 2010, one of my favorites thai houses, My Thai, reopened in its new 6000+/- sf location at 1300 Bank Street at The Tack Factory, just next to Heavy Seas Alehouse [9]. convenient to Harbor East, Little Italy, Fells Point and the Inner Harbor. Developed by husband and wife team of Brad & Pui Wales, Baltimore City restaurateurs since 2007, and son, Jirat Suphrom-In, who is a developing Thai chef following his mother Pui’s techniques, the new location offers the best of the perennial favorite with exciting new changes in a sleek, fresh space. The restaurant features a stainless steel and wood appetizer grill bar with seating for 15 where guests can watch chefs at work. The location serves both lunch and dinner and also has private party space for up to 25 people. The menu still includes favorites such as Drunken Noodles, Beef Ka Pow and many types of curries, but also some exotic Thai delicacies such as liver, brain and silkworm. Asian influenced drinks include: sake, Leyche Pear Martinis, Singha & Chang Thai beers, Chinese beers and the addition of draft beers not offered in the previous location. Being next door to Heavy Seas, methings we can find some local craft brews on tap! Ok More soon.
