The "BasketBALL" Gala is a black-tie event attended by representatives of the BB&T Classic teams, their coaches, other sports figures, business and community leaders. The 2011 line-up includes the University of Maryland and The George Washington University, plus Big East power University of Notre Dame and 2011 Final Four participant Virginia Commonwealth University.
