DISTINGUISHED CHEFS OF DC SERIES: BACON LOVERS COOKING CLASS BY EXECUTIVE SOUS CHEF PETER DIGEORGE & PASTRY CHEF DONNA YUEN AT LIA’S RESTAURANT
Executive Sous Chef Peter DiGeorge has always loved food, life, and cooking. Originally from New York City, he turned his passion into a career after graduating from the French Culinary Institute in Manhattan. Before joining Lia’s, he worked at NYC’s popular River Club and DC’s highly acclaimed TenPenh. When he’s not turning out delicious Italian fare at Chef Geoff’s signature restaurant, Lia’s, DiGeorge especially loves cooking chili, drinking Guiness, and smoking cigars. So who better to teach you how to cook dishes featuring one of America’s all time favorite foods – bacon?! You’ll learn how to make a tasty bacon soup, zesty bacon vinaigrette, and an awesome cherry wood bacon encrusted New York strip steak with two great side dishes.
As a bonus to this event, we will feature two Chefs! Donna Yuen will be preparing our delectable bacon dessert! Donna graduated from The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY with a bachelor's degree in Baking and Pastry Arts Management. In 2006, Donna started working as a pastry assistant at Lia's and, in 2007, became the Executive Pastry Chef of Chef Geoff's three restaurants: Chef Geoff's, Chef Geoff's Downtown and Lia's. Donna oversees all three pastry kitchens as well as developing new and exciting seasonal menus.
