Maryland gets another homegrown brewery-Evolution Beer

Evolution (EVO), a small batch craft beer brewery with current distribution in Maryland, Delaware, Washington DC and Northern Virginia, is getting ready to tap a much larger production space in Salisbury, Maryland as the new base for Evolution Craft Brewing Company and the Public House. The EVO brewery currently produces an established series of mainline beers as well as a wide variety of specialty beers. In addition, Southern Boys Concepts corporate offices will be located in the Salisbury facility formerly known as the "Reddy Ice Factory" at 201 E. Vine Street in Salisbury, Maryland.

Evolution has grown incredibly in its first years of operations and owners are most excited for growth potential ahead. In 2009, brothers Tom Knorr and John Knorr a Phillips Foods key executive) worked with brew master Geoff DeBisschop of Boston, Massachusetts to create the Evolution Craft Brewing Company.

"We are excited to move into Salisbury, Maryland where we have our other restaurant businesses and have lots of fans and supporters. I guess we are Maryland Boys at heart." states co-owner, Tom Knorr.

In the past two years, the brewery has established itself as a new contender in the world of craft brewing. Regional and statewide media outlets across the Mid-Atlantic region have been toasting the beers and the success of Evolution. Proof is the brewery's continued streak of winning the Chesapeake Beer Madness contest for 2009, 2010, and 2011.

Renovation is underway to ready to the space for enlarged brewing operations, offices for Southern Boys Concepts and the new Public House restaurant increasing and strengthening its supply for their distribution regions and anticipated growth. It is anticipated that the location will be ready in the early months of 2012, with the restaurant portion to open in mid January; and the production brewery to open in late February.

On an aside, Southern Boys Concepts is a well known area hospitality group as the owners of 5 restaurants: Sobo's Wine Beerstro, Specific Gravity Pizzeria and Bottle shop of Salisbury, MD, The Red Roost in Whitehaven, MD, Boonie's Chophouse & Pub in Tyaskin, MD and Bistro Cinq in Antiques, Guatemala
