THE HISTORY At the end of 19th century - a Russian prince constructed his Datcha at Eze on a 4 acre private peninsula located between Nice and Monaco. Around 1880 the Welsh writer James Walsh, banished by the British for his works considered too libertine, took procession of the premises. At the beginning the 20th century, the property was owned by a Greek ship owner, the mother of Lapostolle and in 1936 a wealthy Lithuanian born American put down the foundations of the existing building paying his architect and his staff in gold coins. In the 1930 s with the threat of war looming, he returned to the United States leaving behind him uncompleted building. When occupying the French Riviera, the German army took over the property and tore up the rosewood floors for heating fuel... In the early 50s Robert Squarchafichi opened a 6 bed-roomed hotel which was to be called the Cap Estel and after a few years he expanded the number into a 40 roomed luxurious establishment which started welcoming tourists from all over World. Very soon it was to become a popular meeting place for Royalty, politicians and show business celebrities such as the Emir d Oman , Gorges Pompidou, Andre Malraux, Joe Kennedy, the father of J.F. Kennedy, Sir Laurence Olivier, Catherine Deneuve, the Beatles, Jacques Brel, David Niven , Anthony Quinn, Gina Lollobrigida ...just to mention a few. Bought in November 2000 by private investors and after 3 years of meticulous restoration to its original splendor the Cap Estel will reopen at the beginning of 2004 2. THE CONCEPT The Cap Estel with its 7 deluxe rooms and 11 suites from 50sqm to 500sqm will offer a unique venue on the French Riviera. Catering for the individual guest as well as events. It will be an ideal location to organize weddings, family reunions, gala evenings product launches, photo shoots and could even be used as a set for filming. Under certain conditions the Cap Estel can be rented exclusively. The Cap Estel will consist of the main building and one separate building, -La Corniche- and two bungalows -La Mer- and -Le Parc-. All the suites and rooms have either a balcony or a terrace and all with a sea view. Each building has its own style and all suites and rooms are equipped with state of the art technology such as LCD or Plasma televisions screens, DVD/CD, individually controlled air conditioning and heating units, satellite TV, separate internet connections as well as all the traditional equipment such as safes in each bed room. For private events, the Cap Estel offers spacious lounges with panoramic terraces seating up to 170 persons inside the building and 240 persons on the terraces. In the grounds there is space for a 500 sqm marquis. In addition there is a state of the art cinema seating 38 persons. 3. Leisure facilities For the well being of our guests the establishment is equipped with / - An outdoor infinity sea water pool, heated in season, An outdoor soft water Jacuzzi, Heated indoor soft water pool, Gym, Sauna, Steam baths, Massage room, Relaxation room, Private beach Personalized service will be offered to all our guests by our hand picked staff, Lounge Bar, Pool House Bar and Barbecue -in season-, Room service, Reception and concierge service, Daily house-keeping, Laundry and dry cleaning As the Cap Estel will not have a restaurant, it will be possible to organize either a caterer or a private chef. |

Cozy room with twin or double bed make up at choice- fully equipped bath room and shower- satellite TV- desk- internet plug- sitting area on lower level with access to large terrace with garden and Ocean view. One of these rooms is specially designed for disabled persons.

1 Bedroom Corniche Suite

Located in the Corniche building 50sqm suite with double room- bath/shower separate WC American kitchen- dining area and sitting room. From the balcony there is a panoramic view of the Mediterranean and Cap d Ail . the suite is fully air-conditioned and equipped with satellite TV-flat screen- and DVD.
2 Bedroom Corniche Duplex Suite
:
Located in the Corniche building 100sqm duplex suite is equipped with an American kitchen- dining and sitting room on the upper level with a large balcony. Two bedrooms with private bath/shower with a large terrace are to be found on the lower level. The sitting room and both bedrooms have their own flat screen TV/DVD.
2 Bedroom Suite 210
:
This two bedroom suite has a surface of 210sqm with one bathroom and one shower room- separate WC- sitting and dining area. The second room has own sitting room and bedroom on the mezzanine. There is a large 200sqm terrace facing South East with a view of the Mediterranean and Cap d Ail.

Very spacious one bed roomed suite on two levels in a separate bungalow with a terrace and breath taking view right on the sea overlooking St Jean Cap Ferrat. The bedroom and shower- entrance with a dining area is situated on the upper level The living room and terrace on the lower. The Living room and bedroom have flat screen satellite TV and DVD as well as air-conditioning and kitchenette.
2 Bedroom Suite 310/410
:
One floor one suite 210sqm to 260sqm with large terrace facing South East and South West with panoramic view of the Mediterranean- Cap d Ail and St Jean Cap Ferrat- two bedrooms with private bath- large dining and sitting room area and kitchen if required. Satellite TV- DVD and air conditioning.

Exit the Airport direction Nice Center- drive along the Promenade des Anglais- sea front- for about 6 km until the harbor- drive around the harbor on two sides and drive up the hill toward Villefranche. Follow the coast road through Villefranche- Beaukieu to Eze Bord de Mer. Drive through Eze bord de mer -railway track on the right. Upon arriving at the tunnel du Cap Estel- do not enter by keep right. The Cap Estel is 200m on the right hand side.
