ABA's 2010 Top 100 Events Selection Committee selected Ocean City's Winterfest of Lights from among hundreds of US and Canadian events nominated by state and provincial tourism offices and convention and visitors bureaus as one of North America’s Top 100 Events.
This year's Winterfest of Lights marks the event's 17th year with more than one million glittering lights covering hundreds of animated and stationary displays Enter a land of enchantment at Northside Park, 127th St and the bay, where you can take a ride on the Winterfest Express as it makes its way along a mile-long path filled with delightful illuminated displays. Winterfest train rides are a deal at $4 for those 10 years of age and older, and with children 9 years and younger riding for free
While at Northside Park visit the Winterfest Village for a cup of hot chocolate, browse the new Yukon Cornelius Gift Shop for that special gift and have your photo taken with Santa. The Winterfest Village is located inside a huge heated tent decorated for the holidays.
Ocean City's Winterfest of Lights shines nightly Sunday through Thursday 5:30 to 9:30 pm and Friday and Saturday from 5:30 pm to 10:30 pm; A special tree lighting ceremony will be held to kick off Winterfest on Thursday, November 19 at Northside Park. Can't WAIT for this year!
I am a beach girl throughout all the seasons! While I am there in December, I make sure to go to "WitnerFest of Lights". It is a dazzling array of Holiday light displays in Ocean City's Northside Park! The first time I went to this event, I was not sure of what to expect. The wait in line was minimal. :) We soon boarded a boardwalk train (yes, everyone -- they use boardwalk trains for everyone to ride in while viewining the light display! Cool, huh?) Inside, the waiting area provides mny possibilities for fun, as well! Children can even meet Santa!! (I enjoyed meeting him. I admit..haha..Ok, I was 23..but, I have to say that I was happy to meet and speak with Santa!) There is also hot cider, coffee and hot cocoa. Altogther, this is a wonderful time for all ages and for families to enjoy a memorable Holiday tradition. I highly recommend Winterfest of Lights to all who are looking for something fun and festive to do with the whole family this year!
