The June 14 dinner donates 100% to Komen Maryland in support of local breast health programs. To secure a seat, contact Lenore Koors at Komen Maryland or 410-938-8990 x109 or  http://komenmd.org/charleston . Congratulations to all of my friends who CELEBRATE SURVIVING CANCER like me!

Oh and congratulations to The Charleston Groups Chef/Owners Cindy and Tony for 10 years of success at Petit Louis! One evening in June, 2000 Petit Louis Bistro opened its doors at 4800 Roland Avenue and began a relationship with the neighborhood and friends from different cities visiting Baltimore that continues to flourish today. It was Tony Foreman and Cindy Wolf's great love for classic French bistro cooking –such as that of Chez l’Amis Louis in Paris– that inspired the concept. Ten years later, the restaurant remains true to the French bistro it was created after with classic bistro fare, and an ever increasing wine cellar.

The RITZ CARLTON has been celebrating daily 20 years at its PENTAGON CITY location with a fun 20 day-factoid email. We have enjoyed receiving the daily dose of RITZ trivia and give-aways. It was an intimate look into how one of the most exclusive brands promotes itself. For Day 2- To honor the hotel’s most treasured guests, America’s Armed Forces and allies, and the national capital region, The Ritz-Carlton, Pentagon City has commissioned a challenge coin commemorating 20 years of legendary service.  One side features The Ritz-Carlton logo with “Embracing the Past/Focusing on the Future” around the rim,  the other side depicts the grand edifice of the hotel itself, flags aloft, with the anniversary date of May 7, 2010 and the words “20 Years of Legendary Service” encircling.  The coin is presented in a special box; a small brochure and personal message from General Manager Angella Reid are enclosed.  Only 500 of these commemorative coins will be struck. Today is the day before the official kick-off--good luck to all involved, including lucky guests at the RITZ Carlton! Do tell us.

Crab Cakes

Conrads up I think in Parkville MD. 2nd to Gertrudes in BMore. Yea someone gonna chime in w/ Kocos Pub in a min but that crap is Imported. Also, Timbuktu/G&M/Olive all the same owner cheap/imported crab meat too. Pappas in Towson also Imported/Asian. Michaels in Highlandtown are like Softballs & also cheap/Imported. Best Bet stick to Conrads or Getrudes..

I <3 Crab Cakes

Favorite places for crab cakes: Patrick's of Pratt St. and Faidley's @ Lexington Market. For a nice, sit down experience at a local pub in an intimate setting, I go to Patrick's. Their broiled crab cake entree comes with two cakes that have a wonderful mayonnaise base. These are divine and melt in your mouth. For more of a quick and dirty experience, I go to Faidley's. There are a couple options on their menu, but I pay for the backfin meat cakes-absolutely worth the price. I eat these without either the bun or crackers-I don't want to interfere with all of the deliciousness.

Even though I just discovered them, apparently Eddie's of Roland Park has long been known for their yummy lump crab cakes. You can get them already prepared from their Gourmet to Go department or raw in the seafood department for only $6.99! Grab a few sides and you have the perfect effortless meal!

Hands down box hill pizzeria has the best crab cake around. They are located in abingdon, md. The crab cakes are huge and have a great price point. They do not have a lot of filler and an amazing taste.

We love the crab cakes at Mo's in Parkville or Dundalk. They are jumbo lump with little filler - on special every Tuesday along with clams casino and crab legs. Yum! The place may be small on atmosphere, but it's big on flavor!
