Best Buy Closing Hunt Valley & Inner Harbor and 49 others May 12, Bubba Gump opening

I just opened my mail to be greeted by a letter from the store I bought my new laptop and lots of insurance from GEEK Squad. Sadly, they are closing and now, the nearest store will be much farther away. I am not happy! Why can't America keep these needed stores. Ugh.

The company is trying to avoid the fate of Circuit City, which went out of business in 2009. It faces slower sales of big ticket items like TVs, plus increased competition from Amazon.com and discount stores like Target.

Best Buy has about 1,400 locations in the United States. It has already closed two stores this year, one in Missouri and one in Arizona. Most of the rest of the 50 will close May 12, others this summer.

Best Buy CEO Brian Dunn resigned after the board of directors began investigating his "personal conduct." The company lost $1.7 billion in the most recent quarter, partly because of restructuring costs.

Well, I am indeed looking forward to Landry’s and Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. invite you to a Preview to celebrate the Grand Opening of Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. at Harborplace this week.
